What's this blog about?

First of all - granola what?! Granola is a term used to describe 'modern day hippie'. I love being a "granola"! I first heard the term when my little sister and her friends would whisper it behind my back, using it to describe why I was the way I was. Now, I embrace the term!

This blog will focus on all us hippie-at-heart woman who blend in with the rest of the work force 9-5. By day you will find us in our blazers and high heels in our office usually on conference calls or attending meetings; after work we are either trying to find the best deal on organic laundry detergent or whipping up our own detergent in the kitchen. I work full time and attend school part time, and my husband usually puts in 70 hours a week at work; therefore I solely run the household. I take care of the finances, cooking, cleaning, laundry - all while trying to find the most cost-effective and less-harmful-to-the-environment way to accomplish it all!

I write about budgeting, DIY crafts, organizing, cooking, and fashion.

I hope to bring out the inner hippie in all of you! As always, share me tweet me pin me!

Until next time,
Polly

About Me

Hi, I'm Mallory! I'm an outgoing introvert - yes you read that right. Somehow I am outgoing and loud, while liking to stick to myself and a few close friends. I'm a self proclaimed 'modern hippie' - although I am bound by what society, my job, my family expect of me, I always maintain a sense of freedom, truth, and love. I'm vegetarian and proud of it - my blog is not about me preaching to the world to become vegetarians (aww I can hear the sighs from here!). I am working my way through the long long journey of enlightenment, I love Buddhism and everything that is teaches. Check out my Zen Corner at the bottom of my blog!

I like gardens, vegan & vegetarian cooking, organizing, the solar system, rocks, feathers, good music that moves my soul (especially Bob Marley), maxi skirts, and I LOVE tea! I drink tea all day every day, along with the occasional smoothie, cup of coffee, and glass of wine.

I married my wonderful husband in Las Vegas two years ago, we have two little Chihuahuas and two fat and happy bunnies. No kids yet, but maybe in the future. We are currently starting the adoption process to adopt from Ethiopia. My husband works away from home a lot, so although he is home to make a mess he isn't always home to clean it. Since he works so hard I take care of all the finances, housework, and cooking.  I'm an accountant so I spend my days crunching numbers, and by night I write on my blog about life and everything that's goes along with it. I write about recipes (top hits and failures), my struggle to keep a tidy house, organization tips, books etc. Having to keep the house running smoothly while working fulltime and going to school part time was my main goal in starting a blog. How do I make time for everything? Well I am usually running 2 weeks behind schedule on the best of days. My family always comes first, then I accomplish all I can in the few hours I have before bed. I will share my journey, tips, and ideas in order to find the perfect balance and how to make time for everything in this fast paced world while still maintaining aspects of hippie life.
